5 Tips to help you enjoy your Boudoir Session

1. FIRST THING’S FIRST – FEEL CONFIDENT IN YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER.

Choosing the right photographer matters. You want to bond with them and feel comfortable at your body’s most vulnerable in front of the camera. Choose someone who’s as excited as you are!

Check out their portfolio on their website and social media. This way you will get a feel for their style and whether their photos fit with what your aesthetic is.

Get to know them, book in a call with them or see if you can meet up for a coffee and a chat.

Together, you can plan for your boudoir session and how you envision it.

Here are a few things for you to consider:

What type of boudoir style are you aiming for?

What types of lingerie are you thinking about?

Do you want to incorporate any accessories or props?

Have these planned and ready to discuss in advance

Most Boudoir Photographers will have a Guide that they can send through to you as a downloadable pdf that will give this information. If not ask, your photographer is there to help you have the best experience ever.

  2. INVEST IN SELF-CARE WEEKS IN ADVANCE.

Sure, you’ll have the chance to get pampered and glammed up on the day of your session. But in the weeks leading up, take out time for yourself.

Drink lots of water.. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate…

Start using body scrubs and face masks. Have a pamper day at home with bath bombs, a facial.. ( I know this one is a bit difficult when you have kids)or book yourself in for a facial.

 3. CHECK YOUR RE-GROWTH, NAILS AND BODY HAIR

Truth be told, we always feel better when we have our nails manicured. Seriously think about a manicure, believe it or not your hands are photographed lots during your session.

Do we usually have a chance to do these things with our busy schedules? NO! This is where a boudoir session comes in- you have all the excuses in the world to treat yourself!

You are about to get the HOTTEST photos of yourself to look at for years to come.

Yes, it’s going to take a little extra planning, and you might have to hand off the kids so that you can hop in the shower and do a full body shave before your session, but it’s worth it!

Now of course, shaving and waxing are a personal preference and completely optional, and if you are a free flowing lady who loves and accepts her body hair and does not need to do these things, by all means, skip that part!

Check your nails. Your hands are used a lot with posing in your Boudoir Session. Please check that there is no chipped, old nail polish and that your nails are clean, and don’t forget your feet. Especially the bottom of your feet, make sure they’re scrubbed clean.

Book yourself in for your hair to be done at least a week out from your date. Re-growth is very difficult to work around in  photos and very hard to photo shop.

Lastly, as I mentioned before, if you’re in doubt about anything then ask your photographer. No question is a stupid question. Personally, I would rather you asked me loads of questions as it will help you feel more comfortable on your day.

4. ON THE DAY OF YOUR SESSION..

You are going to be nervous .. Everyone is. Let’s face it standing in front of a stranger in your lingerie is not something that you do everyday.

Try hard not to overthink it… Everything is going to be okay. I have you covered.

I am here to help you to relax and enjoy the experience of being pampered with hair and makeup, having fun and getting gorgeous photos of yourself.

5. AFTER YOUR SESSION

Go out and celebrate. Treat yourself to a night out with your significant other, or with friends. After all, you now have this amazing sense of confidence and empowerment, not to mention that you look amazing with your hair and makeup.
